Comfy is an AI creation engine for visual professionals, built on a powerful open-source workflow platform (ComfyUI) with 4 million users and a thriving ecosystem of 60,000+ community-built nodes. The company recently raised $30M at a $500M valuation and is scaling its commercial cloud offering, Comfy Cloud.
You will own the product-led growth engine for Comfy Cloud end-to-end. This is a full-stack engineering role where you identify growth opportunities across the entire user journey—signup, onboarding, activation, monetization, and retention—form hypotheses, build experiments yourself, instrument them, launch, analyze results, and make ship-or-kill decisions. You are not waiting for a PM specification; you combine data, user insight, product judgment, and technical constraints to decide what to build next.
Your responsibilities include:
- Owning experiments from hypothesis through production: identifying opportunities, defining metrics and guardrails, building the experience, instrumenting it, launching, analyzing, and deciding what ships.
- Improving the full Comfy Cloud journey: account creation, first workflow, first successful output, templates, local-to-cloud adoption, credits, upgrade flows, billing, collaboration, sharing, and retention.
- Building across the full stack—polished frontend experiences, backend services, APIs, data models, experiment assignment, billing logic, and lifecycle integrations.
- Owning measurable product outcomes: activation, time to first value, free-to-paid conversion, retained usage, expansion, and revenue, while protecting reliability and compute economics.
- Querying product data yourself to investigate user behavior without waiting for an analyst.
- Talking with users and learning from Comfy's community when quantitative data doesn't explain behavior.
- Building the minimum experimentation infrastructure needed: feature flags, exposure logging, event instrumentation, experiment health checks, and reusable patterns.
- Turning successful experiments into durable, production-quality product experiences.
- Raising the growth-engineering bar by documenting learnings and helping other engineers run better experiments.
Success looks like: understanding the Comfy Cloud funnel and shipping first experiments in three months; owning a repeatable experiment cadence and producing measurable improvements to growth metrics within six months; and building a stronger self-serve growth engine with accumulated knowledge about creator discovery, conversion, and retention within twelve months.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 6+ years of software engineering experience with strong full-stack capabilities (frontend and backend).
- Proven track record of personally owning an activation, conversion, retention, or revenue metric and explaining how your work moved it.
- Real experience running product experiments from hypothesis through analysis, including failed or ambiguous results.
- Ability to work without detailed specifications, combining data, user insight, product judgment, and technical constraints.
- Comfortable building user-facing experiences in TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks (Vue experience useful but strong fundamentals matter more).
- Proficiency with SQL and product analytics tools to explore funnels, cohorts, experiment results, and unexpected behavior.
- Understanding of experiment fundamentals: assignment, exposure, primary metrics, guardrails, sample-size tradeoffs, novelty effects, segmentation.
- Excellent product judgment and care for UX quality.
- Ability to move quickly while knowing when to invest in rigor (billing, identity, privacy, core architecture).
- Thrives in small, intense teams with high ownership, low ego, and fast pace.
BONUS:
- Experience building growth systems for PLG, developer-tool, creator-tool, or usage-based SaaS products.
- Background in onboarding, templates, collaboration, referrals, pricing/packaging, subscriptions, credits, usage metering, or Stripe integrations.
- Experience building or introducing experimentation infrastructure.
- Understanding of open-source product growth dynamics.
- Familiarity with ComfyUI or professional creative-AI tools.
- Regular use of AI development tools.
