Salary: USD 190,000 - 220,000 / annual

Odyssey partners with state agencies to design, launch, and operate Education Savings Account (ESA) and school choice programs. The company provides technology, program operations, vendor ecosystem, and family experience to support these initiatives. Operating across 10 states, Odyssey's platform powers programs serving 250,000+ students and manages over $2B in annual education funding. As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you will build core technology behind the platform, working across the stack on program eligibility systems, education fund ledgers, and a marketplace enabling schools and vendors to accept tuition and service payments. You'll own features end-to-end from ideation through technical design, implementation, deployment, and iteration. The role emphasizes building 0-1 products and systems, turning ambiguous ideas into scalable, production-ready solutions. Key responsibilities include: - Own features end-to-end across the stack, from ideation through deployment and iteration - Build and ship 0-1 products and systems using TypeScript, AWS Lambda, Next.js, and other frameworks - Design, write, and execute tests to ensure robustness and reliability - Design and implement sophisticated database models considering scalability and performance - Develop and maintain APIs for public and internal use - Drive continuous improvement of the Marketplace platform in collaboration with product teams - Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, design) to identify needs and formulate solutions - Make pragmatic tradeoffs between speed and scalability with a bias toward shipping and learning quickly - Take full ownership of work in production, including monitoring, debugging, and continuous improvement - Operate with high autonomy while proactively identifying gaps, risks, and opportunities - Contribute to system design, platform management, code reviews, and capacity planning - Foster transparent communication within the team Odyssey operates at the intersection of GovTech, EdTech, and FinTech, working directly with state partners to turn policy into real systems that families depend on. REQUIREMENTS: - 8+ years of software development experience - Proficient in TypeScript for building robust, scalable applications - Strong communication skills, comfortable pitching new approaches and concepts - Solid understanding and experience with Agile practices, with flexibility to adapt to evolving needs - Experience with early to mid-stage tech startups and enthusiasm for startup growth dynamics - Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis PREFERRED SKILLS: - Experience building scalable software using AWS technologies - Experience with double-entry ledgers, payments, and money movement - Experience owning services end-to-end including infrastructure maintenance - Familiarity with IaC technologies, CI/CD, and observability tools
