F5's AI Security team is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications powering world-first AI Security solutions. You will work on a modern tech stack (Python, FastAPI, Pydantic, PostgreSQL, AWS, Kubernetes, ArgoCD) and collaborate with product, QA, frontend, and data science teams to deliver high-performance, secure software.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and develop scalable backend applications, SDKs, and tools for AI Security solutions
- Build, test, and optimize RESTful APIs and multi-service backend systems
- Write clean, maintainable code adhering to secure coding best practices
- Architect backend features using modern software design and scalable patterns
- Troubleshoot and optimize services for maximum scalability, performance, and reliability
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align engineering solutions with product and business goals
- Stay current with emerging technologies and proactively suggest improvements

Qualifications and Requirements:
- At least 5 years' experience developing server-side applications using Python, FastAPI, or equivalent frameworks
- Strong understanding of database technology (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
- Demonstrated expertise building, debugging, and maintaining RESTful APIs and multi-service backend systems
- Excellent troubleshooting skills for complex software systems
- Passion for owning and delivering high-quality backend solutions
- Strong critical thinking and structured problem-solving approach
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Clear communication of ideas, features, and risks to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Effective time management and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Preferred: Familiarity with Dockerized applications, Kubernetes, AWS; hands-on CI/CD experience (ArgoCD); knowledge of secure coding practices in mission-critical environments
