Salary: USD 215,000 - 300,000 / annual
Reliable Robotics is building safety-enhancing automated aviation systems to make air transportation safer and more convenient. The company is developing phased array radar technology for Detect and Avoid applications in commercial aviation.
As a Senior FPGA Design Engineer on the FPGA team, you will own the firmware at the heart of Reliable Robotics' phased array radar system. This role focuses on new advanced operational modes and the entire lifecycle of FPGA design—from product architecture through implementation, synthesis, hardware integration, and testing for the Air-to-Air Radar solution.
Key responsibilities include:
- Establishing high-level FPGA requirements and hardware/software interfaces in coordination with avionics and radar teams
- Translating MATLAB algorithms to fixed-point VHDL implementations
- Conducting system architecture performance tradeoffs and verifying real-time performance
- Collaborating in a peer-review environment to maintain high product quality
- Working with a vertically integrated technology stack that extends to the aircraft level
The position is based in Seattle, WA, with 10% travel required. You will work in a fast-paced, mission-driven team of engineers with aerospace, robotics, and autonomous systems backgrounds.
REQUIREMENTS:
Basic (Required):
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
- 8+ years of full-cycle electronics hardware development experience in a professional environment
- Professional experience designing FPGA digital logic using industry-standard design, simulation, and synthesis tools
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
- Experience with RADAR or RF transceivers
- Proven track record of product ownership including development and field support
- Experience with safety-critical FPGA development (DO-254 level A/B or equivalent)
- Experience architecting, implementing, and verifying fixed-point DSP algorithms
- Comfort with fast-paced, agile/iterative development
- Pragmatic, results-oriented work style
