Reliable Robotics is building automated aviation systems to enhance safety in air transportation. As a Senior Flight Test Engineer on the Flight Test and Integration team, you will verify the function and capabilities of modified flight control systems for a remotely operated autoflight system. You will ensure proper build-up of functions and capabilities from lab through vehicle integration, verify end-to-end system functionality, and assess all desired test requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Verifying function and capabilities of modified flight control systems for remotely operated autoflight systems
- Ensuring proper system build-up from lab to vehicle deployment
- Verifying end-to-end functionality and assessing test requirements
- Engaging with multiple teams across the organization
- Acting as responsible engineer and test director during flight test campaigns
- Drafting and executing test plans, test cards, and hazard analyses
- Conducting system-level risk assessments
You will work with a team of mission-driven engineers with aerospace, robotics, and autonomous vehicle backgrounds. The role requires up to 10% travel.
REQUIREMENTS:
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline
- 7+ years of experimental flight test experience
- Prior experience drafting test plans, test cards, test hazard analyses, and acting as test director during flight/mission operations
- Experience making aeronautical VHF radio calls
- Demonstrated ability to complete system-level risk assessments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate of SETP (Society of Experimental Test Pilots) recognized flight test school
- Recent Caravan or PT6A aircraft experience
- Diversity of experience across multiple aircraft/airframes
- CFII (Certified Flight Instructor Instrument) or military flight instructor certification
- Experience with automated and/or large remotely operated vehicles (UAS, spacecraft, etc.)
- Experience in flight test programs focused on FAA certification
- Experience developing flight procedures, training curricula, and safety management systems
- Experience flying for 14 CFR Part 135 or 121 air carriers
- Deep understanding of FAA certification processes and implementation
- In-depth knowledge of systems engineering processes and principles
- Basic familiarity with software programming principles
