Salary: USD 120,000 - 175,000 / annual
Terran Orbital, a leading satellite manufacturer serving aerospace and defense industries, seeks a Senior Electrical, Electronic & Electromechanical (EEE) Components/Parts, Materials & Process (PM&P) Engineer to join the mission assurance and quality team. Reporting to the Sr. Director of EHS, Mission Assurance & Quality, you will provide critical assurance for affordable, high-performance satellite systems, ensuring product lifecycle reliability, safety, and compliance with internal specifications and customer contract requirements.
Key responsibilities include partnering with the Engineering EEE Parts Manager to guide design engineers on parts selection based on reliability, availability, and manufacturability; reviewing EEE and PM&P contract requirements to identify gaps and risks; evaluating EEE parts for performance, reliability, safety, and value; and serving as the primary customer interface for parts, materials, and process requirements. You will support reliability risk mitigation by coordinating across supply chain, engineering, and manufacturing teams, using reliability analyses, failure models, and tools like Ansys Sherlock to assess PM&P risks and simulate PCBA stresses.
You will lead and coordinate EEE/PM&P failure root-cause analyses, generate reports, and propose corrective actions. Additional duties include analyzing electrical, thermal, and mechanical characteristics of components and PCBAs to determine failure root causes; developing and tracking failure-related metrics; participating in failure review boards and engineering reviews; compiling parts, materials, and process lists to meet contractual obligations; providing input to program managers and proposal teams; leading PM&P process improvement initiatives; ensuring requirements flow down to suppliers and subcontractors; managing the PM&P program including subcontractor oversight; maintaining the PM&P Control Plan and procedures; and managing the Counterfeit Parts Prevention Program including NSPAR/NSMAR approvals.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in another technical discipline with substantial hands-on experience with EEE components for space hardware
- 5+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience, ideally in aerospace
- Experience in EEE parts engineering, including reliability, utilization, obsolescence, and parts libraries
- Knowledge of applicable military and industry standards (MIL, NASA, ISO, ECSS, IPC)
- Ability to analyze designs, materials, processes, systems, and manufacturing for reliability
- Experience performing part/material/process failure analyses and recommending corrective actions
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional failure and root-cause investigations (RCCA)
- Knowledge of counterfeit parts/materials management, inspection techniques, and test methods
- Ability to review EEE/PM&P contract requirements and clearly communicate implementation approaches
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to thrive in dynamic environments with shifting priorities and ambiguity
- U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in engineering, physical sciences, or business administration
- Familiarity with MS Office, JIRA, Manufacturo, Aegis, D365, and common PLM/MES tools
- Experience with Ansys Sherlock for parts reliability analysis
- Knowledge of passive/active components, connectors, metal finishes, tin whisker mitigation, lead-free solder control, and obsolescence management
- Experience preparing/reviewing non-standard part and material approval requests (NSPAR/NSMAR)
- Strong presentation skills for customers and senior leadership
- Background with aerospace customers, mission assurance processes, satellites, space vehicles, and ground systems
- Experience managing subcontractors
