Mariana Minerals is a software-first, vertically integrated minerals company supplying critical minerals for modern energy, AI, and defense technologies. The company combines deep industry expertise with advanced software, automation, and data-driven decision-making to reimagine the minerals supply chain. The Sr. Cost Control Engineer owns the cost baseline, forecast, and change control on Mariana's capital projects. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, procurement, construction, and finance—tracking the path where a commitment becomes an accrual becomes an invoice becomes a capitalized asset. You will ensure cost consistency across all four functions and build automated reporting pipelines rather than manual monthly reports. Key responsibilities include: - Building the work breakdown structure and cost breakdown structure with planners and estimators; converting sanctioned estimates into control budgets - Tracking purchase orders, subcontracts, change orders, and field costs with monthly ERP reconciliation and zero unexplained variance - Maintaining estimate-to-complete and estimate-at-completion forecasts by control account with documented basis - Setting earned-value rules of credit, measuring physical progress, and reporting cost and schedule performance at actionable levels - Running the trend and change management process end-to-end, identifying potential changes early and quantifying them for approval - Managing contingency and management reserve drawdown against the risk register - Maintaining project cash flow and funding curves for finance and treasury - Reviewing contractor invoices and progress claims against measured progress and contract terms - Creating, issuing, and presenting project cost reports and leadership dashboards - Automating the cost data pipeline so information flows from ERP, procurement, and schedule into reports/dashboards without manual re-keying; building reconciliations and exception checks Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, finance, or related field - 5–12 years of project cost control experience on capital projects in mining, minerals, refining, chemicals, power, or heavy civil; senior candidates should have owned cost on projects above $100M total installed cost - Hands-on applied experience with earned value management on a live project (not just training); ability to describe where it broke down - Hands-on experience with project cost management systems (EcoSys, InEight, Prism, Procore) and ERPs (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) - Advanced Excel proficiency plus SQL, Power BI, or Python at a level where you build your own reporting - End-to-end experience running trend and change management processes - Comfort with commitments versus actuals, accruals, capitalization, and funding authorization mechanics - AACE Certified Cost Professional, Certified Cost Technician, or PMI credentials are a plus
