Firework is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to lead and scale the company's accounting function as it grows globally. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines strategic finance oversight with deep technical accounting expertise.
You will own the complete monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, driving disciplined and increasingly efficient GAAP compliance. You'll lead global consolidation across multiple legal entities, currencies, and jurisdictions, managing intercompany accounting and eliminations. A key focus is owning advanced technical accounting matters including revenue recognition, complex transactions, accounting policy interpretation, and GAAP research.
You'll oversee preparation and review of internal and external financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery. A major responsibility is leading the evolution of the company's accounting systems, integrations, and financial data architecture to reduce manual processes and improve control and visibility. You'll partner closely with People Operations on global payroll accounting, reconciliations, and controls across multiple payroll providers and entities.
Core finance administration falls under your purview: banking, treasury administration, entity support, expense and vendor processes, accounting documentation, and operational workflows. You'll lead the external financial statement audit process, managing audit readiness, supporting schedules, technical documentation, and auditor relationships.
You'll establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, controls, and documentation appropriate for a growing global organization. Working closely with business leaders, you'll ensure financial reporting accurately reflects performance and supports decision-making. You'll proactively identify financial, accounting, systems, and process risks and resolve issues before they cascade.
This role involves leading a deliberately lean finance organization, developing direct reports into stronger operators and increasing team capability through systems, automation, standards, and clear ownership rather than headcount expansion.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Active CPA (required)
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with significant ownership of close, consolidation, reporting, and technical accounting
- Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and demonstrated ability to independently research and resolve complex accounting matters
- Prior experience in a post-Series B or later-stage, high-growth technology company
- Experience with global entities, multi-entity consolidation, intercompany transactions, and international accounting operations
- Strong experience with revenue recognition and advanced accounting topics relevant to SaaS or technology businesses
- Demonstrated ownership of annual external audits and audit readiness
- Strong understanding of accounting systems, ERP environments, integrations, and financial data flows
- Highly technical and AI-savvy with a track record of using automation and technology to materially improve finance operations
- Experience partnering with People Operations on payroll, ideally across multiple countries or payroll providers
- Experience managing and developing accounting professionals in a lean operating environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to move fluidly between strategic issues, technical accounting, systems architecture, and hands-on execution
- Comfortable operating in an environment where processes are evolving and leaders are expected to build rather than inherit fully mature infrastructure
- Ability to work U.S. business hours
