AeroVect is a Series A autonomous ground-handling company transforming airport operations for major airlines and ground service providers globally. The Special Projects Manager will own a portfolio of cross-functional initiatives that fall outside standard departmental ownership—site openings, equipment procurement, process design, infrastructure planning, and operational rollouts.
In this role, you will partner directly with Operations leadership to identify problems, gather context, form recommendations, and drive them to completion with minimal oversight. You will work across Operations, Engineering, Hardware, Safety, IT, Finance, and People teams, as well as external vendors, service providers, airport stakeholders, and airline partners.
Key responsibilities include:
**Sites & Physical Infrastructure:** Lead site evaluation, securing, build-out planning, and full operational launch. Own site strategy for the growing autonomous vehicle fleet, defining on-airport vs. off-airport functions and planning infrastructure (storage, charging, data offload, calibration, service access) ahead of vehicle deliveries. Manage ongoing facilities operations including utilities, connectivity, maintenance, access, security, and vendor relationships. Anticipate operational needs and stay ahead of obligations and constraints.
**Equipment & Procurement:** Source and deploy devices, tools, safety equipment, vehicles, furniture, and site infrastructure. Evaluate options on cost, reliability, and lead time, bringing clear recommendations. Navigate approvals and documentation. Maintain inventory visibility and condition tracking. Manage device and account lifecycle for field teams (procurement, carrier plans, mobile device management, mounting, provisioning, offboarding).
**Projects & Rollouts:** Own initiatives from conception to completion, including those with no obvious owner. Build detailed plans with scope, sequence, dependencies, timeline, budget, and communications. Coordinate across matrix teams without escalating by default.
**Process & Tooling:** Identify recurring friction and design processes, tools, trackers, or documentation to eliminate it. Identify manual work worth automating and build or specify solutions. Standardize ad-hoc practices.
**Communication:** Write clearly for diverse audiences (operators, executives, customers, vendors). Deliver operational communications on process, equipment, and tooling changes. Support internal and external events. Provide leadership with accurate status and early escalation.
**Requirements:**
- 3+ years in operations, program/project management, chief of staff, facilities, procurement, or comparable generalist role where you owned outcomes rather than tasks
- Demonstrated ability to take ambiguous problems from first mention to fully resolved without supervision (with specific examples)
- Experience managing external vendors, contractors, or service providers, including scoping and accountability
- Comfort with numbers and commercial terms; ability to build cost comparisons, read quotes/contracts, and explain trade-offs to executives
- Strong writing skills for both frontline teams and executive recommendations
- Reliable system for tracking commitments
- Willingness to work onsite in Atlanta with regular presence at airport facility
- Ability to pass federal background checks and obtain/maintain airport security badge
- Valid U.S. driver's license
**Preferred:**
- Experience opening, building out, or relocating physical sites
- Experience supporting frontline, hourly, or shift-based workforce
- Familiarity with aviation, logistics, manufacturing, construction, or field operations
- Early-stage or high-growth company experience where processes didn't exist yet
- Experience administering devices, carrier accounts, or SaaS tools (MDM, Apple Business Manager, workforce apps)
- Comfort building lightweight tools (spreadsheets, forms, automations, documentation)
