Rhoda AI is building generalist intelligent robots with a full robotics stack spanning hardware, systems, and foundation world models. The company has raised over $450M and is scaling manufacturing and research aggressively.
The Application Engineering team sits at the intersection of engineering, product, deployment operations, and business. As a Solution Engineer, you own the systems-engineering work that transforms a successful proof-of-concept into a production deployment. You will take the lead once a customer issues a purchase order, translating customer requirements into a production solution, designing workflows and work cells, and integrating Rhoda's robots and AI models with the customer's environment—sensors, conveyors, PLCs, MES, and other plant systems. You will carry solutions through Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), commissioning, and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
Key responsibilities include:
- Gathering, defining, and negotiating customer requirements for production (throughput, uptime, safety, acceptance criteria)
- Conducting feasibility analysis and simulation; providing proposal review and feedback during the purchase-order stage
- Designing production workflows and work cells, including layout, safety, material flow, and operator interaction
- Leading system integration planning with customer environments (sensors, conveyors, PLCs, MES, plant systems)
- Integrating Rhoda's AI model with task-related tooling and partnering with Application Engineers on task engineering
- Owning overall solution strategy and authoring workflow standard operating procedures for production
- Defining solution requirements and shaping product and site readiness ahead of deployment
- Measuring and reporting system performance through FAT and SAT; supporting on-site commissioning
- Feeding production learnings back to product and engineering teams to shape the roadmap
You will work with a team distributed across the US and Germany, and travel to customer sites domestically and internationally.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BS or MS in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial, or Robotics Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience designing and deploying automation or robotic systems in manufacturing or logistics environments
- Hands-on experience with industrial controls and integration: PLCs, industrial networking and protocols (OPC UA, Profinet, EtherNet/IP), sensors, conveyors
- Experience integrating with MES or other plant-level systems
- Strong understanding of work-cell design, machine safety standards, and risk assessment
- Track record of taking systems through FAT, commissioning, and SAT
- Ability to translate ambiguous customer needs into clear technical requirements and designs
- Willingness to travel to customer sites (domestic and international)
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience at a systems integrator or robotics OEM
- Experience with simulation tools for work-cell design and throughput analysis
- Exposure to AI- or vision-based robotic systems
- Familiarity with both US and European safety and compliance requirements
