UFORCE is a defense-technology company founded in Ukraine and headquartered in London, building uncrewed vessels, ground robotics, aircraft, autonomy software, and command-and-control systems. The company operates across Europe, the United States, and Asia.
As a Mission Software Specialist, you will serve as the technical bridge between customers, field operations, product, and engineering teams. You'll own the full lifecycle of software deployment, configuration, troubleshooting, and operational readiness in real-world mission environments. This is a hands-on, customer-facing technical role requiring frequent travel to support field operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering mission-ready deployments by installing, configuring, validating, and updating software at customer and field locations, completing readiness testing and maintaining documentation
- Keeping systems operational in the field by diagnosing and resolving software, network, compute, and integration issues during testing, training, demonstrations, and customer missions
- Providing engineering with actionable evidence through clear bug reports, system logs, and translated operator feedback into prioritized product requirements
- Building customer independence by training operators and maintainers to use, troubleshoot, and sustain systems safely
- Making deployments repeatable by developing configuration baselines, checklists, deployment automation, and troubleshooting playbooks
- Building trust through clear communication with customers and internal teams, surfacing operational risks early, and balancing immediate mission needs with long-term improvements
You'll work independently in fast-moving environments, coordinate across teams, and own problems through resolution. Travel is frequent and may include austere or high-pressure environments.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Hands-on experience administering Linux systems and independently deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting software
- Practical experience with Docker and containerized applications, including diagnosing container failures and managing upgrades/rollback
- Strong networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, Ethernet, routing, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, with ability to diagnose connectivity and bandwidth issues
- Ability to use SSH, logs, and system-health diagnostics to isolate problems across software, network, compute, and hardware
- Ability to write or modify Bash or Python scripts and use Git and version-control workflows
- Understanding of software release, CI/CD fundamentals, configuration management, and edge-compute environments
- Structured troubleshooting approach with sound judgment under time pressure and incomplete information
- Clear communication with both operators and engineers; ability to explain technical problems, document solutions, and deliver training
- Ability to work independently, coordinate across teams, and own problems through resolution
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently and support field operations in austere or high-pressure environments
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with autonomous vehicles, robotics, UAS, USVs, or mission systems
- Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, Ansible, Terraform, or similar orchestration tools
- Backend development with Node.js and Python (services, APIs, messaging, integrations)
- Experience with ROS/ROS 2, MAVLink, or CAN/CANbus
- Hands-on experience with NVIDIA Jetson, Raspberry Pi, or edge-compute hardware
- Familiarity with TAK, ATAK, tactical networks, Starlink, or satellite communications
- Experience with cloud-connected and disconnected-edge architectures
- Active security clearance
- Previous forward-deployed, military, maritime, or expeditionary experience
