STOKE Space Technologies is building Nova, a fully reusable launch vehicle designed for daily flight to radically lower space launch costs and increase flight cadence. The company's mission is to enable a thriving space economy through reliable, cost-effective space transportation. You will be the dedicated Software Integration Engineer at Moses Lake Test Site (MLTS), the primary software owner responsible for all software systems at the test facility. This is a rare opportunity to own the complete software stack at an active rocket test site. Key Responsibilities: - Own the software configuration for MLTS test stands and ground systems, ensuring every test runs on a known, verified configuration - Provide hands-on software support throughout test operations, from pre-test checkouts to on-console support during hot fires, troubleshooting anomalies in real time - Learn how the test site operates and translate observed friction into clear requirements, bug reports, and feature requests for the broader Vehicle Software (VSW) team - Represent the site's needs within VSW, making the case for work that will have the biggest impact on test cadence and reliability - Turn recurring issues into permanent fixes through code changes, new tools, or deployment improvements - Own pieces of the VSW stack, likely centered on systems that prove software readiness before reaching a stand and tooling that makes each test day run faster - Build tools, runbooks, and documentation that let operators and test engineers resolve issues independently - Act as the strong tie connecting MLTS with HQ in Kent, WA and Space Launch Complex 14 in Cape Canaveral, FL STOKE's software stack is built on Rust, Python, and NixOS, enabling rapid iteration and testing. The same software runs on the launch vehicle and test stands. Your infrastructure and tools will directly determine how fast the company achieves its goal of daily flight operations. This role requires willingness to work in person at an active test site, including outdoors and during extended hours that test campaigns sometimes require. Qualifications: - 1+ years of professional or internship experience in flight software development, ground software, hardware integration, or systems engineering - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field - Demonstrated ability to write, debug, and ship software in a systems language, ideally Rust, within a Linux environment - Proficiency in Python or another scripting language for automation and data tooling - Experience with Git, configuration management, and deploying/maintaining software on physical systems outside controlled development environments - Networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, subnetting, and troubleshooting device connectivity - Ability to communicate clearly with engineers and operators who aren't software specialists and turn their needs into actionable engineering work - Must be willing to work in person at Moses Lake Test Site, including outdoors and during extended test campaign hours Preferred Qualifications: - Experience supporting live test, launch, or flight operations for aerospace, automotive, energy, or other high-consequence systems - Experience building test frameworks, CI pipelines, or tooling that made other engineers faster - Hardware-in-the-loop systems experience - Familiarity with data acquisition (DAQ) systems, instrumentation, PLCs, or hardware communication protocols (CAN, RS422/485) - Experience reading P&IDs, electrical schematics, or system diagrams - Experience with technical project management Note: ITAR compliance required—must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
