STOKE Space is building Nova, a fully reusable launch vehicle designed for daily flight operations. The company is seeking a Software Integration Engineer to serve as the dedicated software engineer at the Moses Lake Test Site (MLTS), responsible for all software systems supporting rocket engine testing and vehicle validation.
In this role, you will own the software configuration for MLTS test stands and ground systems, ensuring every test runs on a known, verified configuration. You will provide hands-on software support throughout test operations, from pre-test checkouts to on-console support during hot fires, troubleshooting anomalies in real time and driving them to root cause. A core responsibility is learning how the test site operates and translating observed friction into clear requirements, bug reports, and feature requests for yourself or the broader Vehicle Software (VSW) team.
You will represent the site's needs within VSW, making the case for work that has the biggest impact on test cadence and reliability. You will turn recurring issues into permanent fixes—whether through code changes, new tools, or improvements to deployment and verification processes. You will own pieces of the VSW stack, likely centered on systems that prove software is ready before reaching a stand and tooling that makes each test day run faster and cleaner, while contributing across the broader stack wherever needed.
A significant part of this role is serving as the strong tie connecting MLTS with HQ in Kent, WA and Space Launch Complex 14 in Cape Canaveral, FL. You will make software approachable for operators and test engineers by building tools, runbooks, and documentation that enable them to resolve issues independently.
STOKE's software stack is built on Rust, Python, and NixOS, enabling rapid iteration and testing. The infrastructure and tools you build will directly determine how fast the company achieves its goal of daily flight operations.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 1+ years of professional or internship experience in flight software development, ground software, hardware integration, or systems engineering
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- Demonstrated ability to write, debug, and ship software in a systems language (ideally Rust) within a Linux environment
- Proficiency in Python or another scripting language for automation and data tooling
- Experience with Git, configuration management, and deploying/maintaining software on physical systems outside controlled development environments
- Networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, subnetting, and device connectivity troubleshooting
- Ability to communicate clearly with engineers and operators who aren't software specialists, translating their needs into actionable engineering work
- Willingness to work in person at an active test site in Moses Lake, WA, including outdoors and during extended hours that test campaigns require
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience supporting live test, launch, or flight operations for aerospace, automotive, energy, or other high-consequence systems
- Experience building test frameworks, CI pipelines, or tooling that made other engineers faster
- Experience with Hardware-in-the-loop systems
- Familiarity with data acquisition (DAQ) systems, instrumentation, PLCs, or hardware communication protocols (CAN, RS422/485, etc.)
- Experience reading P&IDs, electrical schematics, or system diagrams
- Experience with technical project management
