Apple's Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) organization is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead the Supply Chain Innovation team within Sales and Operations Engineering. This role is central to building end-to-end software solutions that optimize Apple's global supply chain operations, from supply planning and demand forecasting to product distribution.
You will lead a team of skilled engineers, making decisions that impact multi-functional partners across IS&T and business units. Your responsibilities include designing and developing highly scalable, distributed systems using cloud-native technologies and microservices architecture. You'll oversee the full software development lifecycle, from architecture and design through code reviews and risk assessments, while ensuring timely delivery through Agile methodologies.
Key responsibilities include: leading and mentoring an engineering team while fostering innovation and excellence; designing large-scale projects with focus on performance, scalability, robustness, and resiliency; collaborating with product owners, developers, QA, support teams, and end-users; leading proof-of-concept projects and pilot implementations; contributing to code reviews and debugging complex technical issues; and developing a multi-year technical roadmap. You'll represent the team in cross-functional meetings and clarify requirements for multi-functional software projects.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical depth with people leadership. You'll master intricate technical challenges, stay current with emerging technologies, and build a high-performing engineering organization. This role requires balancing hands-on technical contribution with strategic team development and organizational growth.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- 12+ years of experience building and scaling enterprise-grade systems
- Programming experience in Python or Java
- Experience with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.)
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Computer Science
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years leading and developing engineering teams
- Hands-on experience designing and architecting large projects (performance, scalability, robustness, resiliency)
- Project management experience with Agile development methodologies
- Container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- NoSQL databases (Couchbase, Redis, MongoDB)
- AI/ML product development experience; familiarity with LLMs, prompt engineering, and RAG
- Supply chain domain experience
- Contractor management and collaboration
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
