Robinhood is seeking a Software Engineer to build and own backend services, infrastructure, and data systems supporting the company's next-generation crypto, web3, and wallet offerings. You will develop innovative solutions for a best-in-class trading experience for cryptocurrencies and tokenized assets, including perpetual futures, while solving complex scalability and correctness challenges in systems that move real customer assets continuously around the clock. The role spans three interconnected teams: **Robinhood Wallet**: Builds non-custodial consumer products and self-custody experiences, leveraging DeFi protocols and Robinhood Chain to democratize access to financial services worldwide. **Tokenization**: Brings public and private equity to be tradable 24/7 on decentralized exchanges (DEXs) across Robinhood Chain. The team builds the connective tissue between traditional market infrastructure (issuance, custody, settlement) and on-chain systems. **Robinhood Chain**: Designs and scales the underlying decentralized infrastructure, improves the platform for trading real-world assets, builds specialized smart contracts, and provides infrastructure services for other teams relying on DeFi. **Key Responsibilities:** - Design, build, test, and deploy scalable backend services and infrastructure across Robinhood Wallet, Tokenization, and Web3 platform systems, with correctness and auditability as hard requirements. - Build connective tissue between traditional market infrastructure (brokerage, ledgers, corporate actions) and on-chain systems, including smart contract integrations, chain indexers, and DEX trade flows. - Develop product-facing features and platform enhancements meeting strict correctness and scalability standards. - Identify and implement improvements to system performance, engineering productivity, and risk reduction. - Collaborate closely with product, compliance, client, platform teams, and external partners to deliver impactful technical solutions. The role is based in Menlo Park or New York City offices, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. **Requirements:** - 2+ years of experience in software development - Expertise in backend development using Go, Python, or Java, with solid grasp of cloud-native architectures - Strong grasp of system design, data modeling, and software engineering fundamentals - Care for correctness-critical systems—idempotency, reconciliation, and reasoning carefully about failure modes when money is at stake - Strong ownership mindset with track record of delivering high-quality projects end-to-end in cross-functional environments and raising team-wide technical standards - Proven ability to simplify complex problems, make sound tradeoffs, and drive alignment across diverse stakeholders - Interest in blockchain fundamentals (EVM, smart contracts, wallets, on-chain settlement) or strong appetite to go deep quickly
