Salary: USD 166,000 - 220,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced autonomous systems, AI, and sensor fusion technology. The Maritime Division is building next-generation autonomous underwater vessels and systems including Dive-XL, Dive-LD, Copperhead, and Seabed Sentry platforms, executing billion-dollar contracts while operating Robot-as-a-Service (RaaS) AUV missions.
As a Software Engineer on the Maritime team, you will independently drive the delivery of software integrated into autonomous platforms, demonstrating end-to-end outcome ownership at the subsystem or system level. You will act as a technical lead in architecting, designing, and delivering next-generation autonomous platforms throughout their entire product lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
- Empathizing with end-users and driving solutions that balance their needs with external constraints in a multi-stakeholder environment
- Owning software-enabled solutions deployed to customers, optimizing for end-user value delivery
- Designing and implementing scalable software that rapidly delivers capability beyond current platform scope, with clear architecture and evolution paths
- Contributing to the design and development of reusable software services across Anduril product lines
- Developing software for both on-board robotic platforms and off-board command/control systems using various technologies
- Designing, implementing, and executing development processes for vehicle and mission software, including full lifecycle testing, monitoring, and operation
- Creating test and simulation fixtures with software- and hardware-in-the-loop capabilities
- Supporting vehicle manufacturing and deployment
- Mentoring Software Engineers from diverse backgrounds as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Traveling up to 20% to co-locate with end-users and other teams
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field (or equivalent experience)
- Extensive professional experience as a Software Engineer with expertise in one or more domains/technologies
- Strong systems and application programming skills including algorithms, data structures, concurrency, scaling, testing, infrastructure, software design, and system design
- Experience troubleshooting and analyzing remotely deployed software systems
- Ability to work holistically on software-enabled capabilities across the full stack through design, implementation, operation, and sustainment
- Capacity to act as technical owner for a software service, including stakeholder engagement, requirements definition, roadmap management, team coordination, design, implementation, sustainment, and evolution
- Ability to learn and grow individually while effectively mentoring junior team members and building team cohesion
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience delivering military mission systems
- Backend or embedded software experience in C++, Rust, and/or Go
- Frontend application development using TypeScript and React
- Design and operation of horizontally scaled cloud technologies
- Embedded software design and support, particularly in robotics
- Modeling and simulation experience
- High-assurance safety-critical software development
- Product delivery lifecycle experience including manufacturing, system acceptance, deployment, and sustainment
- Systems Engineering concepts familiarity
- Interest in growing into Senior Software Engineer, Staff Software Engineer, or Tech-Lead-Manager roles
