Neuralink is building brain-computer interface devices that restore movement to the paralyzed, restore sight to the blind, and revolutionize human-digital interaction. The company's next-generation surgical robot will perform brain surgery at scale, installing hundreds of tiny threads into the brain to enable neural communication.
You will own the end-to-end surgical robot simulation system. This is a high-impact individual contributor role where you will build the complete robot simulator (dynamics, sensors, actuators, and product-stack interfaces), test real robot software and firmware against simulated hardware, write automated simulation tests (scenarios, regressions, fault injection, coverage), and ensure runs are deterministic, measurable, and efficient enough to run in CI/CD pipelines. You will reproduce hardware failures in simulation to accelerate test timelines and directly engage with users to gather feedback and iterate rapidly.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building the full robot simulation stack: dynamics, sensors, actuators, and interfaces to the product software
- Testing real robot software and firmware against simulated hardware
- Writing automated simulation tests covering scenarios, regressions, fault injection, and coverage analysis
- Optimizing simulation runs to be deterministic, measurable, and cost-effective for CI integration
- Reproducing hardware failures in simulation to accelerate development and testing timelines
- Gathering user feedback and iterating on the simulation platform
The posting notes that the team is hiring engineers at all levels (junior and senior), with emphasis on evidence of exceptional abilities and drive to succeed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong Rust skills; Python for test tooling and analysis. Bazel experience is a plus.
- Real robotics or physics simulation experience (MuJoCo, Isaac Sim, Gazebo, or equivalent).
- Experience with async and concurrent systems, hardware interfaces, RPC, and telemetry.
- Experience building automated integration tests and debugging failures across software and firmware.
- Effective use of AI agents to accelerate work while maintaining quality.
