Prelim is building the platform that powers financial institution onboarding at scale. As a Software Engineer, Product, you will own critical parts of the platform handling digital onboarding for banks and financial institutions worldwide. You'll work directly with customers, product, and engineering leadership to build systems that support everything from simple deposit account opening to complex treasury services onboarding, credit card applications, and in-branch experiences. Key responsibilities include architecting and building features across the full stack to handle massive scale and complexity; building, enhancing, and fixing systems that integrate with legacy bank infrastructure, core banking systems, and third-party compliance providers; solving technical challenges around multi-tenant architecture, real-time data processing, and bank-grade reliability; working directly with major banks to understand unique onboarding requirements and translate complex business logic into elegant solutions; and owning the performance, scalability, and reliability of systems processing millions of applications across hundreds of banking products. You'll balance technical excellence with shipping features that drive business impact. You think deeply about user experience for both consumers opening accounts and bank employees processing applications. You're excited about working directly with customers, understanding their complex needs, and iterating quickly based on feedback. You want to own significant parts of the product and help shape technical decisions as the company scales. Prelim is a San Francisco and New York City-based startup operating with fully remote positions across the US. QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience with modern web technologies (React, Node.js, PostgreSQL preferred). Open to new graduates with impressive projects or experienced engineers. - Strong system design skills and experience with scalable architectures. - Ability to solve complex technical problems with business context; can break down complicated banking requirements and build elegant solutions. - Care about business impact and balance technical excellence with shipping features that move the business forward. - Think deeply about user experience across different user personas. - Excited about working directly with customers and iterating quickly based on feedback. - Want to own significant parts of the product and help shape technical decisions. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering. - Legally authorized to work in the United States and located within the continental United States.
