Salary: USD 85,700 - 126,860 / annual
Zynga, a global leader in interactive entertainment and label of Take-Two Interactive, is seeking a server-side Software Engineer to join its distributed team working on high-profile gaming titles including Zynga Poker, FarmVille, Words With Friends, and others. The role is based in Austin, TX or San Mateo, CA.
You will develop features and gameplay functionality for large-scale, high-performance applications. Your responsibilities include building and maintaining server-side systems in Go, developing and integrating new technologies and SDKs, extending core systems as needed, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with product and design goals. You will participate in multi-week or month-long engineering efforts, conduct code reviews, identify and improve team and process inefficiencies, ensure secure coding practices and data protection, and stay aware of industry trends to identify technical risks and scalability concerns.
The ideal candidate is self-driven, a strong communicator, works well in teams, and performs under tight deadlines. You will have the opportunity to work on challenging problems for high-profile titles and contribute to systems architecture.
REQUIREMENTS:
- B.Sc. in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent education/work experience
- 2+ years game industry or mobile app experience as a software developer
- Prior game development experience (shipped titles or live games)
- Good working knowledge of Golang, C#, and HTML
- Strong experience implementing APIs and services (gRPC and REST)
- Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software methodologies
- Solid working knowledge of full software development lifecycle (coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, operations)
- Excellent communication skills and comfortable in collaborative environments

- Unity experience
- Git and Jenkins versioning/build systems
- Performance profiling and optimization
- Docker, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Kafka, Redis, AWS, gRPC, Protobuf
- Monitoring tools (Bugsnag, Splunk/ELK, Datadog)
- Multiplayer/realtime systems experience
