Ambrook is a Series B fintech startup rebuilding financial infrastructure for American family-run businesses. The company helps independent operators in agriculture, forestry, and other land-based industries gain financial clarity and access capital through modern accounting, banking, and spending tools. As a Software Engineer on the Platform team, you will build foundational systems that enable the entire engineering organization to move faster and more reliably. Your work spans product infrastructure (PostgreSQL databases, GCP environment) and company infrastructure (internal tooling, data platforms, AI agent systems). The tech stack is primarily TypeScript with GCP scripting. This role uniquely combines infrastructure engineering with a product mindset. You'll treat internal teams—both engineering and non-engineering—as platform customers. You'll learn how they use shared systems, iterate based on real feedback, and defend quality, security, and scalability standards as the company scales. A significant part of this role involves building infrastructure for agentic systems: shared frameworks, evaluation systems, harnesses, sandboxes, and interfaces that let teams deploy and operate AI agents with confidence. The goal is to enable any team to request an agent, deploy it to the cloud, run evaluations, and see results on a dashboard. Within one month, you'll build a mental model of Ambrook's infrastructure, develop relationships with stakeholders, ship a meaningful improvement to production, and identify platform priorities. Within three months, you'll own a platform project end-to-end, execute a production database or cloud migration safely, ship a slice of agent infrastructure, and establish feedback loops with internal customers. Within six months, you'll expand agent infrastructure for both internal and customer-facing features, drive the platform roadmap, deliver substantial infrastructure improvements, and raise standards for how infrastructure changes are designed and deployed. Requirements: - Hands-on production experience building and operating platform or infrastructure systems, with demonstrated expertise in PostgreSQL and GCP - Experience planning and executing migrations at scale, including validation, observability, and rollback strategies that protect production systems and customer data - Genuine interest in platform work: you seek changes that improve the whole codebase, developer experience, or tooling rather than individual features - Ability to treat engineers and non-engineering teams as customers; you learn how they work, build with empathy, and iterate from real feedback - Capacity to move quickly while maintaining quality and scalability standards for shared infrastructure - Comfort building user-facing interfaces and product surfaces that make infrastructure useful to internal teams - Security mindset: you consider access, data handling, failure modes, and operational risk as part of ordinary engineering work Bonus qualifications: - Experience building infrastructure for agentic systems (evals, agent loops, harnesses, sandboxes) - Direct experience with application or infrastructure security - Background building financial products or systems where auditability and data integrity are critical
