Salary: USD 160,000 - 180,000 / annual
Discord is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Notifications squad, a multidisciplinary team working across client experiences, infrastructure, and machine learning. The Notifications team ensures every notification Discord sends is high signal and high value to its millions of daily active users.
In this role, you will own well-defined projects end-to-end, working on client device experiences for receiving notifications and tailoring notification preferences. You'll build the platform that enables all other teams in the company to send delightful notifications while delivering maximum value to users. You'll pair with Machine Learning engineers to optimize global notification signals and quality, maintain a high quality bar for the platform's operational health and client performance, and collaborate with Product and Design leads to find solutions that balance delight, speed of delivery, and impact.
This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager for Growth. You'll be expected to sweat the details of a great user experience and grow your craft alongside a team that ships reliably and cares deeply about quality.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Proficiency in one or more of Python, Elixir, or Typescript with eagerness to learn new languages and skills
- Track record of delivering high quality software reliably and on time
- Attention to detail and quality-first mindset; ability to catch bugs before they reach customers
- Motivation to help team members succeed, grow, and learn through empathetic feedback
- Customer-focused approach and comfort working toward clear, measurable team goals

- Discord user with understanding of core features and communication flows
- Prior experience working on notifications or as part of a growth team
