AEVEX Aerospace is seeking a mid-level software engineer to join their team in Baltimore, Maryland. You will contribute to the design, development, and support of mission-critical systems for government and commercial clients, with a focus on autonomous platforms and unmanned maritime systems.
In this role, you will solve straightforward technical problems independently and tackle complex problems with guidance from senior engineers. You'll manage small to medium-sized projects, design and develop high-quality, high-performance software solutions, and build applications with database integration and new functionality enhancements. Your responsibilities include moving between first-principles analysis and complex software solutions, developing design documentation and technical reports, and producing documentation aligned with government standards.
You will troubleshoot and resolve control system issues using systematic approaches, recommend design improvements, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders including government and industry partners. Collaboration across internal teams and locations is essential. Additional duties include implementing software on hardware platforms, performing maintenance and updates, retrieving and analyzing log files for diagnostics, and monitoring emerging technologies and industry trends to advise leadership.
The role involves participation in training, integration, and RDT&E events, with occasional travel required for on-site support and training. You should thrive in rapid prototyping and testing environments and possess technical curiosity about evolving projects spanning seafloor to aerospace systems.
