Arista Networks is seeking experienced Linux Kernel and BIOS software engineers to join the Dublin-based Kernel software team. The Platform team works closest to hardware and chip programming, responsible for keeping pace with the latest Linux Kernel developments and integrating them for internal use and as a base for Arista EOS. In this role, you will: - Extend and develop new kernel features related to functionality Arista relies on, working with the kernel community to get features integrated upstream - Evaluate new CPUs and collaborate with CPU/BIOS vendors to integrate their stacks into EOS - Lead bringup and qualification of CPU subsystems and components into Arista hardware products - Own projects from definition through deployment and customer interactions - Contribute across all aspects of software development: feature addition, debugging, and performance optimization - Take responsibility for the quality of everything you deliver Arista's software engineering culture emphasizes support and growth. As your interests evolve and business needs shift, you'll have opportunities to transition into other areas beyond Kernel and BIOS work. Requirements: - BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering - 5+ years of hands-on experience with C or C++ and Python - Hands-on experience working on Linux Kernel software (preferred) - Understanding of IP networking and/or distributed systems (preferred) - Applied understanding of software engineering principles - Strong problem-solving and software troubleshooting skills - Ability to design and implement solutions successfully
