In this role, you will lead development of Pelico's ETL backend in Java, owning scalability and performance for systems that transform complex, high-volume manufacturing data into a single live operational picture. You'll design, develop, and optimize ETL backend components while architecting scalable, modular services that ensure data integrity, security, and availability across distributed environments. Key responsibilities include: - Design and optimize Pelico's ETL backend components in Java for complex data processing - Architect scalable services ensuring data integrity, security, and availability in distributed environments - Integrate third-party services and APIs; collaborate with DevOps on CI/CD optimization - Develop solutions for large-scale data ingestion, processing, and analysis with optimized database interactions - Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions - Write clean, maintainable, testable code and drive comprehensive testing strategies You'll work in a hybrid model from the Paris HQ within an international team of 36+ nationalities, with a real ownership mandate over a capability cluster and equity in a category-defining scale-up. REQUIREMENTS: - Strong proficiency in Java or Kotlin (backend) with experience in relational databases and API development - Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts and performance optimization techniques - Strong grasp of software design principles (SOLID, separation of concerns, DRY) and design patterns; ability to write maintainable, testable code - Experience with automated testing and CI/CD; ability to define and document technical specifications - Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills; ability to design robust, scalable solutions and identify/mitigate risk - Active embrace of AI tools as part of your workflow; curiosity about new possibilities and quick adoption of smarter working methods - Hands-on experience with AI-assisted workflows (writing, research, analysis, coding, productivity) and genuine interest in frontier AI capabilities - Nice-to-have: Experience mentoring or providing technical leadership to junior engineers - Nice-to-have: Experience in manufacturing, aerospace & defense, or industrial sectors
