In this Backend Engineer role, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing backend systems powering ARQ's innovative products. You'll collaborate with a talented team on greenfield development and improvements to existing systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building REST APIs and engineering microservices
- Evolving systems the business depends on, including card payments, treasury management, transactions booking, and crypto liquidity
- Writing clean, maintainable code with emphasis on test-driven development (TDD) and domain-driven design (DDD)
- Contributing to continuous integration and delivery practices
- Collaborating across teams to drive financial inclusion and product impact
The technology stack is predominantly Java 25 on the backend with Postgres database and Spring Boot for rapid, quality delivery. The team takes a pragmatic approach focused on clean code and fast turnaround.
Requirements:
- Demonstrable experience in backend development with fluency in Java
- Bachelor's degree (or above) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or other Engineering/Science disciplines
- Quick learner with ambitious, results-driven personality
- Excellent communication skills (English fluency, verbal and written)
- Track record of building complex products used by millions in hypergrowth startups
