The Software Engineer in Test II (SDET) will join AlertMedia's AI-focused engineering team, playing a critical role in delivering high-quality, reliable software. The position focuses primarily on AI feature capabilities—including the AI Assistant and agent orchestration platform—while supporting broader web and mobile application coverage.
This role emphasizes modern quality engineering practices in an AI-native environment. The team embraces AI-assisted development, intelligent automation, and contemporary tooling to improve product quality, engineering velocity, and customer outcomes. You will help shape modern quality engineering best practices, expand automation coverage, and embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
- Become an expert in the AlertMedia platform, products, and customer use cases
- Build and maintain evaluation suites that catch quality regressions in AI features and test agent behavior end-to-end
- Test guardrails and human approval gates under adversarial and unexpected input; ensure AI features fail safely
- Design, execute, and maintain automated test coverage to prevent software regressions
- Perform manual, exploratory, functional, and regression testing across web and mobile platforms
- Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects through resolution
- Execute API, integration, and performance testing to ensure platform reliability and scalability
- Partner closely with Engineering, Product, and Customer Success teams to improve quality and troubleshoot issues
- Contribute to QA strategy, processes, tools, and best practices across the organization
- Mentor team members and help elevate testing standards and automation practices
- Leverage AI-powered tools to improve QA workflows, automation, debugging, and engineering efficiency
You are passionate about software quality and creating efficient, scalable testing processes. You understand how applications are built and how customers use them in the real world. You have strong attention to detail, think critically about risk and user impact, and thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments. Importantly, you have experience testing AI features in customer-facing products and are comfortable testing systems that don't return the same answer twice—you know how to measure quality without a correct output to assert against.

You enjoy working cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, and Customer Success teams to deliver meaningful outcomes for customers.
Requirements:
- Experience testing AI features in customer-facing products
- Ability to test systems with non-deterministic outputs and measure quality without a definitive correct answer
- Strong passion for software quality and creating efficient, scalable testing processes
- Attention to detail and critical thinking about risk and user impact
- Comfort with automation and modern engineering practices, including AI-powered tools and workflows
- Experience with manual, exploratory, functional, and regression testing across web and mobile platforms
- Experience with API, integration, and performance testing
- Ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, and Customer Success teams
- Must have legal right to work in Mexico without sponsorship now and in the future (no visa sponsorship available)
