Salary: CAD 115,000 - 145,000 / annual

As a Software Engineer III in the Financial Services and Merchants domain, you will design, build, and maintain solutions for top-tier partners across multiple platforms. You'll architect embedded iOS and Android experiences using OAuth2 flows, leverage transaction analysis for personalized user journeys, and navigate highly regulated environments with complex geographical legislation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and maintaining distributed solutions for strategic partners across backend services, batch processing pipelines, partner-facing frontends, and infrastructure
- Integrating AI tools (Claude Code, Gemini) into daily workflows to accelerate development and support agentic workflows
- Participating in technical discovery for partner integrations, drafting architecture proposals, and contributing code to platform services
- Maintaining production reliability by monitoring alerts, troubleshooting failures, resolving partner issues, and coordinating fixes
- Collaborating with product managers, stakeholders, and partner engineers to implement technical requirements
- Producing and maintaining technical documentation including integration references, runbooks, and onboarding guides
- Contributing to code quality through code reviews and technical discussions

Cover Genius operates on hybrid principles: work from home Wednesday and Thursday, office attendance Monday, Tuesday, and Friday with flexible start/finish times.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years of software development experience with a track record of contributing to and maintaining production systems
- Practical experience using AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini, or similar) in daily development workflow
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining high-quality web services using Python; familiarity with TypeScript considered a plus
- Experience building APIs and third-party integrations with distinct requirements
- Solid understanding of batch processing, file-based data exchange (S3), and event-driven architectures
- Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS), containerization (Docker), CI/CD pipelines, relational databases (PostgreSQL), NoSQL databases (MongoDB), and data modeling
- Ability to adapt to evolving requirements and work through product details when specifications are not fully finalized
- Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to write concise technical documentation and explain design decisions
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to break down user stories into well-structured solutions
- Collaborative mindset and active participation in Agile environments
- Self-motivated and reliable with clear accountability for assigned tasks
- Adaptable and open to learning in fast-paced environments
- Comfortable using AI tools as part of standard daily development workflow
