Salary: USD 107,000 - 130,000 / annual
Cohere Health is seeking a Software Engineer II to join the Integrations team, designing and developing healthcare integration systems that connect payers, providers, delegated entities, and third-party platforms. You will work in a fast-paced, autonomous agile team building and operating an enterprise integration platform at the intersection of healthcare interoperability, APIs, and distributed systems.
Key responsibilities include:
• Design, develop, test, and maintain reliable, scalable services supporting critical business workflows and enterprise integrations
• Develop and maintain secure integrations with internal and external platforms, partners, and third-party systems
• Build and support REST APIs, work with external APIs, data exchange protocols, and common integration patterns
• Work with event-driven architectures, asynchronous messaging, and distributed systems for reliable, scalable processing
• Contribute to cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and software delivery practices
• Develop automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests; improve testing frameworks and practices
• Use monitoring, logging, metrics, and observability tools to troubleshoot issues and improve system reliability
• Troubleshoot and resolve integration and production issues; participate in on-call and operational support
• Implement secure integrations using authentication, authorization, access control, and API security best practices
• Partner with product, operations, QA, infrastructure, and other engineering teams to deliver solutions
• Participate in technical discussions, planning, backlog refinement, code reviews, and agile delivery activities
• Contribute to technical documentation and share knowledge and best practices across the team
• Identify opportunities to improve code quality, system reliability, engineering processes, and operational efficiency

Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience
• 3–5 years of software development experience building and supporting applications or services
• Experience with at least one modern programming language (Java, Python, or similar)
• Hands-on experience with REST APIs, HTTP, JSON, and common integration patterns
• Experience writing unit and/or integration tests
• Familiarity with relational and/or non-relational databases and data modeling
• Understanding of software development practices, version control, and CI/CD
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with engineers and cross-functional teams
• Understanding of authentication, authorization, and secure API design
• Experience building and supporting integrations with external APIs or third-party systems
• Experience with event-driven architecture, asynchronous messaging, or distributed systems
• Experience with automated integration or end-to-end testing frameworks
• Experience with cloud platforms, Infrastructure as Code, or CI/CD pipeline design
• Experience with observability, monitoring, logging, and production troubleshooting
• Preferred: Experience in healthcare technology, health plan operations, or prior authorization systems
• Preferred: Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR or other healthcare data exchange protocols
