Affirm is building a new Ads business and evolving its Marketplace into a best-in-class shopping experience. Search has become the default way consumers discover where to shop, compare options, and decide what to buy across platforms like Google, TikTok, and Klarna. Improving search is one of Affirm's highest-leverage investments to create an experience users choose and merchants want to invest in. In this role, you will work on tasks that contribute to the team's projects and goals within the Search organization. You will collaborate proactively with your team and stakeholders, bringing them along for your work and helping create visibility and dialogue regarding risks and trade-offs. You will strike the right balance of speed and quality in your work, ensuring the team hits business goals while protecting systems from downtime. You will also contribute to a sense of community on your team by engaging in growth and development activities. This is a fullstack role, meaning you will work across both frontend and backend systems. You will navigate a large codebase, debug others' code, provide feedback through code reviews, and take ownership of your growth by proactively seeking feedback from your team, manager, and stakeholders. Affirm is remote-first with flexibility built in. Most roles can be done from almost anywhere within the US. Some positions may occasionally require in-person work at an Affirm office, and all new hires will be invited to attend an in-person onboarding experience. **Requirements:** - Previous work or internship experience with Javascript/Typescript - Previous work or internship experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale; experience with Python or Kotlin - Demonstrated ability to take a simple problem or business scenario into a solution that interacts with multiple software components, and execute by writing clear, well-tested, and extensible code - Comfortable navigating large codebases, debugging others' code, and providing feedback through code reviews - Experience demonstrating ownership of your growth and proactive feedback-seeking from team, manager, and stakeholders - Strong verbal and written communication skills supporting effective collaboration with a global engineering team - Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience
