Neuralink is building brain-computer interface devices that restore movement to the paralyzed, restore sight to the blind, and revolutionize human-digital interaction. The company's next-generation surgical robot will perform brain surgery at scale, installing hundreds of tiny threads into the brain to enable neural communication.
You will own the Hardware In the Loop (HIL) test system for the production surgical robot. This role involves exercising the robot, controllers, and firmware against controlled inputs, reproducing faults, and automating verification. Your HIL system will enable unattended test and verification to run continuously, helping deliver reliable surgical robots at scale.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and maintain robot HIL using real hardware running production software and firmware
- Write automated HIL tests for integration, timing, faults, and bring-up
- Define pass/fail criteria, coverage metrics, and acceptance standards
- Integrate software-in-the-loop tests, HIL tests, and hardware acceptance into a unified CI pipeline with comprehensive logs, traces, and reproducible results
- Own release-gating tests; when failures escape simulation or HIL, reproduce them and close coverage gaps
The team is hiring engineers at all levels—what matters most is evidence of exceptional abilities and drive to succeed.
Requirements:
- Strong Rust skills; Python for test tooling and analysis; comfort working close to drivers, firmware, and buses
- Experience with HIL, test rigs, or system-level verification on robots, vehicles, or similar hardware systems
- Experience debugging async and concurrent systems, RPC, telemetry, and timing failures across software and firmware
- Experience building automated test pipelines (Bazel experience is a plus)
- Effective use of AI agents to accelerate work while maintaining quality
- Obsession with repeatability, edge cases, and traceability
