Telnyx is building the future of global connectivity through a private, multi-cloud IP network and hyperlocal edge technology. The company is financially stable and profitable, operating as an industry leader in connectivity solutions. In this role, you will design and build Go services powering Telnyx's serverless platform, function deployment pipeline, and global control plane. You'll own backend and control-plane software spanning customer-facing APIs, resource lifecycles, and services that deploy and manage workloads across edge infrastructure. A core focus is developer experience—building clean APIs, sharp CLIs, predictable behavior, and useful error messages. You'll build reliable workflows for deployments, configuration, storage, and observability, handling retries, state, and failure cases across multiple services and data centers. You'll work with Kubernetes and runtime infrastructure through the control plane, diagnosing latency, throughput, and reliability issues. You'll also build tooling to operate safely at scale and participate in on-call rotations for systems you build. Requirements: - 2–5 years of professional backend software development experience - Proficiency in Go, or strong experience in Rust, Java, or C++ with interest in writing Go daily - Solid distributed systems fundamentals; experience debugging service-to-service problems in production, understanding retries, partial failures, and idempotency - Comfort designing APIs and resource models for other engineers - Experience with relational databases (schemas, transactions, migrations) - Experience building asynchronous systems using queues, background jobs, state machines, or similar patterns - Working knowledge of Kubernetes and interest in building software that deploys and manages workloads on Kubernetes infrastructure - Experience running highly available services and being on-call Bonus: - Experience building developer tools, platforms, control planes, runtimes, or products for developers - Experience building software that interacts with Kubernetes (controllers, operators, deployment systems) - Familiarity with serverless or edge-compute platforms (Cloudflare Workers, Fastly Compute, Lambda, Fly.io, Deno Deploy) - Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, NATS/JetStream, Knative, or Dapr - Experience operating software across multiple regions or data centers - Open source contributions in the Go ecosystem
