Salary: USD 150,000 - 200,000 / annual
Baton is Ryder's in-house product development group focused on emerging technologies in transportation and logistics. With $10B in freight under management, Baton designs and ships category-defining software that enables Ryder and its 50,000+ customers to plan and execute freight intelligently and cost-effectively. The company operates at startup speed with Fortune 500 reach, having been acquired by Ryder in 2022.
You will join as a Full-Stack Software Engineer in a hybrid role (remote Mondays and Fridays, in-office Tuesday–Thursday at the Hayes Valley office in San Francisco). You'll design and implement both front-end and back-end components of applications using a modern tech stack including TypeScript, React, Python, GraphQL, and FastAPI.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and executing project milestones while identifying and mitigating risks
- Developing and enhancing web application architecture for scalability, maintainability, and performance
- Building backend application layers and data models using Python 3, GraphQL, and FastAPI
- Creating frontend interfaces with React and TypeScript for exceptional user experience
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver technical solutions
- Staying current with industry trends and technologies

Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years of full-stack software development experience with web application architecture and design patterns for complex enterprise applications
- Familiarity with web development best practices and demonstrated ability to discuss engineering and product tradeoffs
- Proficiency in Python with a track record of building intuitive, responsive, and fast web interfaces
- Proficiency with frontend languages and technologies such as TypeScript and React
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
- Strong foundation in first principles thinking to drive problem-solving and innovation
- Experience working with AWS or similar cloud-based services
