Blissway is a lean, high-impact startup (under 30 people) building technology to simplify toll collection and improve highway safety. The company operates across deep tech, AI/ML, hardware, SaaS, and IoT, and has developed a significant technological lead in the tolling industry over five years. You will join as a Full Stack Software Engineer responsible for building the platform that connects Blissway's hardware to drivers, partners, and government agencies.
Key responsibilities include:
**Public Impact**: Develop and maintain software used by millions of drivers to manage toll accounts—payments, account history, violation disputes, and communications. This work must be secure, robust, and intuitive, as it represents Blissway's public-facing interface.
**Partner Integrations**: Build and maintain integrations with DMVs, mailhouses, and fleet vendors for ACH payment processing. Each integration involves unique data contracts, compliance constraints, and edge cases. This is early-stage work requiring both technical judgment and the ability to operate without detailed specifications.
**Platform & DevOps**: Develop deployment tooling, service infrastructure, and shared standards that enable a 25-person team to move quickly. You will own problems related to system setup and operational efficiency.
**Access & Internal Tooling**: Consolidate authentication across services and build a unified access management interface for internal teams across all Blissway deployments.
The role is based in Denver with an emphasis on in-person collaboration, daily team lunches, and relocation support provided. The team operates at high intensity (average 55 hours/week, occasional 70+ hour bursts for major releases) and values ownership, attention to detail, adaptability, and strong coding ability. The tech stack is primarily Python and TypeScript, though language proficiency is less important than learning speed.
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field
- 2 to 6 years of software engineering experience on a quickly shipping team
- Track record of building things (side projects, open-source contributions, or high-impact internships)
- End-to-end product experience: ideation through production and post-launch ownership
- Ability to operate independently, figure out what is needed to get work done, and welcome feedback
- Detail-oriented mindset with experience building systems that handle real-world unpredictability
