Superhuman is building an AI productivity platform that integrates across multiple surfaces—Chrome extensions, desktop apps, web editors, and enterprise admin controls. As a Front-End Software Engineer, you will own the interfaces that deliver AI capabilities directly to users, including real-time chat experiences, inline agent suggestions, document editors, and no-code agent builder tools.
You'll tackle deep craft challenges: orchestrating state across browser extensions, native desktop apps, and web surfaces; making agentic workflows feel instant and fluid; and shipping a consistent experience across a product suite reaching millions of users. The role involves designing and implementing rich, responsive user interfaces in React and TypeScript, working across the Superhuman product suite (Go, Mail, Docs, Grammarly, enterprise), and targeting high availability for both consumer and enterprise customers.
You will collaborate widely with Product, Design, and ML/AI teams to translate AI capabilities into intuitive user experiences, contribute to an engineering culture emphasizing documentation, testing, and UX, and mentor junior engineers on the team. This is not typical front-end work—you'll build interfaces that stream and render AI-generated content in real time, design interaction patterns for inline suggestions, and create tools for customizing AI agents without code.
REQUIREMENTS:
- At least 5 years of front-end development experience with expert-level knowledge of TypeScript (and/or JavaScript), HTML, and CSS
- Extensive experience with ReactJS or similar UI frameworks, modern web client development, and testing tools
- Excellent software engineering fundamentals, including algorithms and data structures
- Comfort working with AI-powered features (building UI for LLM-generated content, streaming responses, agentic workflows); prior experience integrating AI/ML into product surfaces is a plus
- Fluency with AI coding tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, etc.) and perspective on how they change team workflows
- Experience with browser extensions, cross-platform web clients, or shipping front-end code across multiple surfaces (web, desktop, mobile) is a plus
- Deep understanding of continuous integration and delivery methods
- Strong product instincts and commitment to end-user experience and quality
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance, proactively manage priorities across multiple projects, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
