As a Software Engineer in Developer Infrastructure, you will own the platform engineering mission: making every engineer and AI agent dramatically more productive by building shared infrastructure. This role focuses on the developer-infrastructure half of that mission — environments, CI/CD and deployment, infrastructure-as-code, environment parity, observability, security, and internal tooling.
You will work on high-impact projects including:
- Deployment processes: serialized, gated deploys across services; automated schema migrations with rollback; staging-to-production promotion that engineers trust
- Environments & parity: reliable local and remote dev environments; sandboxes and preview/review environments for code review verification
- Agent-first development: MCP gateways, governance, cost management, and foundation model selection
- Infrastructure-as-code: Spacelift/OpenTofu, drift remediation, cloud consolidation (DigitalOcean to AWS), and IaC standards
- Repository standards & ownership: linting, testing hierarchy, ownership manifests, internal developer portal
- Observability foundations: local tracing/logging/metrics, Datadog optimization, incident-management maturity, status pages
- Security & access: unified secrets/config management, SSO, IAM scoping, ECR scanning, audit logging, vulnerability management
- AI internal tools hosting: Numeric Labs platform for shipping internal tools without re-solving auth, hosting, and observability
You will be technically deep in infrastructure and pragmatic about solutions. You have a product builder's instinct for developer experience, discovering problems by meeting users and pairing with engineers. You are comfortable building in-house when appropriate and explicit about when third-party tools earn their place.
The team operates with high pace and high integrity, grounded in core principles: Own the Outcome, Brick by Brick execution, Love the Game (craft and engagement), Earn the Right (trust through shipping), and SALY (refusing "same as last year" thinking). Engineers exercise substantial creativity and agency over product direction.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of software engineering experience, including significant time on infrastructure, platform, or developer-productivity work
- Confidence with AWS, IaC (Terraform/OpenTofu or similar), CI/CD systems, and Linux/container fundamentals
- Strong general-purpose programming skills (primarily TypeScript, Python where it fits)
Nice to have:
- Prior experience with Spacelift/Atlantis, Datadog/Firetiger/Chronosphere, or GitHub Actions/Buildkite
- Running incident-management, defining SLAs, and keeping sites up through high traffic
- Supporting non-engineer contributors (e.g., support engineers shipping fixes with AI tools)
