OnePay is a consumer fintech platform offering banking, high-yield savings, credit cards, point-of-sale lending, investing, and crypto services. Backed by Walmart and Ribbit Capital, the company is building an all-in-one financial services platform and embedded financial services for employers and gig platforms.
As a Software Engineer on the Banking team, you will drive the design and delivery of banking features that scale with customer growth and support seamless mobile experiences. Your responsibilities include:
- Lead technical design and delivery of banking features supporting a growing customer base and mobile experience
- Set architectural standards and best practices for code quality, performance, security, and reliability across banking services
- Own the technical approach to complex challenges at scale, including sensitive financial data and real-time money movement
- Mentor and grow engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on collaboration
- Partner with product, design, risk, and compliance teams to shape roadmap and ship high-quality software
- Create and maintain clear documentation for a remote organization
The engineering stack includes TypeScript front-to-back, Node.js and NestJS for server code, React Native for iOS/Android/Web clients, and a cloud-native architecture with Kubernetes and AWS. The team embraces agentic development tools including Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex.

REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of professional experience in backend or full-stack software engineering, including technical leadership of projects or teams
- Proven success designing, building, and scaling production-grade APIs and distributed systems, ideally in banking, payments, or regulated financial services
- Experience with sensitive financial data and money movement systems (ledgers, account management, ACH, card processing)
- Proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript or similar modern backend frameworks
- Familiarity with microservices, Kubernetes, and AWS
- Experience with mobile or user-facing applications (React Native is a plus)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with a track record of mentoring engineers and driving technical decisions across teams
- Drive and proactivity as a builder and executor
