Salary: USD 140,000 - 180,000 / annual
Resend is a modern email sending platform for developers, with over 4 million developers using the service. The company is growing rapidly and building a core team of software engineers to support millions of emails sent daily. You will own features end-to-end, from proposing ideas and scoping projects to building APIs, dashboard experiences, and the services behind them.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building reliable distributed systems, including queues and background workers that handle traffic spikes, retries, and failures predictably
- Scaling APIs and databases, improving performance, data integrity, and efficiency as usage grows
- Operating what you build, with meaningful monitoring, safe deployments, and participation in on-call rotation
- Working closely with support and customers to understand recurring problems and turn them into product improvements
- Improving engineering quality by strengthening tests, tooling, and existing systems alongside building new capabilities
- Designing systems from scratch and thinking through rollout strategies
- Managing production infrastructure with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform or AWS CDK
- Working across the stack to deliver complete product experiences
The team is fully remote with a collaborative, low-ego culture that values meaningful ownership, autonomy, and a high bar for quality. Some travel is expected for team offsites, conferences, and meetups.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with substantial production backend service experience
- Demonstrated experience with queues, asynchronous processing, and distributed systems (retries, duplicate events, concurrency, partial failures)
- Ability to design systems from scratch and think through rollout strategies
- Understanding of cloud infrastructure and service operations (deployments, observability, capacity, debugging)
- Experience designing APIs and relational data models, diagnosing slow queries, making safe database changes
- Experience managing production infrastructure with infrastructure as code (Terraform, AWS CDK)
- Comfortable working across the stack to deliver complete product experiences
- Strong initiative, clear communication of tradeoffs, judgment about when to ask for help
- Passion for helping other developers and attention to usability details
- Clear written and spoken English with ability to work during Americas working hours
EXCEPTIONAL FIT:
- Deep experience with Node.js, TypeScript, Go, and Postgres
- Built and operated services on AWS using serverless or container-based infrastructure
- Background in developer tools, public APIs, or email infrastructure
