Zenos is a well-funded AI/robotics startup delivering AI productivity to the physical world, targeting a trillion-dollar market opportunity. The company is currently in stealth mode but preparing major announcements soon. The founding team includes entrepreneurs with a successful nine-figure exit and executives from hyperscale tech companies.
You will join a fast-growing engineering team composed of talent from Google, Amazon, Stanford, Carnegie Mellon, and Apple. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, operates independently, and enjoys tackling varied, interesting problems alongside exceptionally smart colleagues.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, scaling, and maintaining robust, performant systems
- Working with the team to set coding standards and define the tech stack
- Mentoring new hires as the company scales
- Contributing across multiple parts of the stack on fundamentally new problems
- Balancing software expertise with some hardware involvement
The role emphasizes ownership: you'll have significant input into technical direction and will help shape the engineering culture as the company grows rapidly. You'll work in a collaborative environment that values both individual initiative and team problem-solving.
The company is based in San Mateo, 25 minutes from San Francisco and Mountain View, with walking distance to Caltrain. The team aims for 4 days in-office with flexibility as needed, reflecting the physical nature of the work (building machines).
REQUIREMENTS:
- Track record of designing, scaling, and maintaining robust, performant systems
- Strong software engineering fundamentals
- Ideally 3+ years of professional experience in high-growth environments, leading technology companies, or elite research labs
NICE TO HAVES:
- Experience with AI/ML, especially object recognition, reinforcement learning, and deep neural nets
- Systems knowledge: multi-threading, DevOps, networking, Linux
- Proficiency in Python, C++, or Rust
