Wolt is a global delivery platform operating in over 500 cities across 30 countries. Originally founded in 2014 for restaurant food delivery, Wolt has expanded to deliver almost everything and joined forces with DoorDash in 2022.
You will build and maintain high-throughput backend services using Go, collaborating with product managers, designers, and frontend developers to ship features that support internal support agents globally. Your responsibilities include designing scalable and resilient systems that are easy to maintain, leading and contributing to architectural discussions and technical decision-making, and writing well-tested code while maintaining high code quality standards across the team.
This is a hands-on senior engineering role where you'll work on distributed systems at scale. You'll be expected to mentor others in Go best practices and drive technical excellence. The role emphasizes a product-oriented mindset—understanding the "why" behind work and creating real impact for users—along with clear communication and collaborative problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with a proven track record of building and scaling complex systems
- 2+ years of production experience in Golang, with ability to mentor others and drive best practices
- Strong hands-on experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases, especially Cassandra
- Solid understanding of designing and operating low-latency, high-throughput distributed systems
- Experience leading projects or making key technical decisions, especially in fast-paced environments
- Clear and proactive communication skills with collaborative spirit
NICE TO HAVE:
- Background in Node.js or other backend languages
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP) and event-driven architectures
- Previous on-call experience with pragmatic approach to reliability and incident management
