Tomorrow.io's Space & Sensors team is building a next-generation commercial weather constellation using RF-based sensing systems (radar, sonar) and spacecraft to collect real-time data for global weather intelligence. As a Mission Operations Software Engineer, you will develop mission-critical software systems to launch, deploy, and operate a fleet of scientific instruments in space from Earth. You will work alongside engineers and scientists to build tools for mission operators and climate scientists, support payload operators in achieving mission success, define interfaces between ground systems and spacecraft components, and collaborate with DevOps and IT teams on deployment strategies and security. The role involves developing production-quality, fault-tolerant software for distributed systems, with a focus on Python-based backend services, REST APIs, database integration (MongoDB, InfluxDB), and cloud infrastructure (AWS). You'll also contribute to web applications using TypeScript and React, work with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and support real-time telemetry data processing. This is an opportunity to work on space-based systems that directly impact weather forecasting and climate resilience, joining a team recognized by TIME Magazine as one of the Top 100 Most Influential Companies in the World.
