Salary: USD 125,700 - 194,800 / annual
ServiceNow's Platform Engineering Application Life Cycle Team is hiring a backend engineer to join a dynamic environment focused on building and upgrading applications on the platform. You will be responsible for the full application lifecycle, from design through delivery.
Key responsibilities:
- Build high-quality, clean, scalable, and reusable code by enforcing best practices around software engineering architecture and processes, including code reviews and unit testing
- Partner with developers and product owners to understand requirements and own your code from design, implementation, test automation, and delivery of high-quality products to users
- Help design software that is simple to use, allowing customers to extend and customize functionality to meet their specific needs
- Help design and implement new products and features while enhancing the existing product suite
- Apply AI to solve developer needs and improve work processes
You will work with a team passionate about leveraging AI and modern development practices. The role emphasizes writing clean, reusable code and understanding how to integrate AI into workflows and problem-solving.
Requirements:
- 2-5 years of proficiency in Java and JavaScript
- Experience leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, design patterns, and performance/scale considerations
- Working knowledge of development tools including IDEs, debuggers, build tools, source control, ServiceNow instances, profilers, and Unix/system administration tools
- AWS background is a plus
- Experience with AI productivity tools such as Windsurf or Cursor is a plus
