Salary: USD 80,000 - 116,000 / annual
NRC Health is seeking a Software Engineer to design, build, and enhance customer-facing product functionality across their healthcare platform. You will own the software and services you build, designing with reliability, scalability, and maintainability in mind using modern engineering practices.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and build customer-facing product features on the healthcare platform
- Build and maintain Kubernetes-based application deployments
- Design, implement, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to provision and manage cloud resources
- Improve CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable, automated software delivery
- Build reusable infrastructure modules and deployment patterns
- Automate operational processes to reduce manual effort and improve platform reliability
- Collaborate with software engineers to improve deployment processes and developer workflows
- Monitor production environments and continuously improve observability, alerting, and operational health
- Identify and resolve scalability, performance, reliability, and operational challenges
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement durable, long-term solutions
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery and improve code quality
- Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to long-term technical direction
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested, and well-documented code
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, IT, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience with demonstrated ability to learn
- Strong software engineering experience developing production applications
- Experience administering Kubernetes clusters (Amazon EKS preferred)
- Experience with AWS cloud services such as EKS, RDS, IAM, S3, Route 53, ALB, and CloudWatch
- Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)
- Experience automating infrastructure, deployments, or operational workflows
- Understanding of cloud architecture, scalability, distributed systems, and modern application design
- Experience troubleshooting production systems in cloud environments
- Familiarity with observability, monitoring, and logging platforms
- Demonstrated proficiency using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, ChatGPT, or similar
- For candidates newer to AI-assisted development, strong willingness and proven ability to rapidly learn and adopt modern AI-powered engineering workflows
- Strong problem-solving skills with an ownership mindset
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
Nice to have:
- Experience with GitOps tools such as Argo CD or Flux
- Experience with Docker and container security
- Experience implementing observability using Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar platforms
- Experience with Linux system administration
- Experience supporting highly available production systems
- Experience in healthcare or other regulated industries
