Maxima is an agentic AI platform for enterprise accounting, automating journal entries, transaction matching, reconciliations, and flux analysis while maintaining human oversight and SOX compliance. The company was founded by finance leaders who previously oversaw the finance org at Rubrik and built month-end close systems at Twitter and Netflix. Maxima has raised $41M from top-tier VCs and is already in production at Scale AI, Rippling, Glean, and SpotOn.
As a Software Engineer, you will build and improve core product systems handling high-volume financial data and complex accounting workflows. You can choose a primary focus on either backend or frontend engineering. On the backend side, you'll build systems that handle financial data pipelines, accounting workflows, and the infrastructure powering the agentic AI platform. On the frontend side, you'll create intuitive, reliable user experiences for complex enterprise workflows, collaborating closely with product and design teams. Either path involves shipping features end-to-end with other engineers, product managers, and customers, seeing your work directly impact finance teams' daily operations.
The engineering team includes staff-level talent from Robinhood, Glean, Google, Netflix, and Meta. You'll work in a small, high-bar team in San Mateo that values ownership, correctness, reliability, and solving real-world problems with real consequences. The role is in-office four to five days per week.
Requirements:
- 2 or more years building product at high-growth companies
- Familiarity with web development, relational databases, and distributed systems
- Experience with TypeScript, React, Redux, or similar frameworks
Nice to have:
- Experience with data pipelines, mission-critical systems (fintech), or complex workflow engines
