Flai is building an AI-native communications platform for car dealerships, a $1.3 trillion industry where dealerships spend $36B annually on operations due to outdated systems and manual processes. The company launched its first voice AI product a year ago and has since deployed multiple products across hundreds of dealerships nationwide, partnering with the 2nd largest automaker and leading dealership groups. Flai has raised funding from First Round Capital, Toyota Ventures, Y Combinator, Innovation Endeavors, SV Angel, and Liquid 2.
You will join as a senior full-stack engineer owning major parts of the product, working directly with founders and shipping to production weekly. Your responsibilities include:
- Own major product features from design through launch and ongoing production support
- Build integrations connecting dealership systems and ensuring data reliability
- Engage directly with customers by joining dealer calls and visiting stores to understand real-world workflows
- Ship features weekly across UI, APIs, and infrastructure
- Help shape the roadmap for your area as you deepen business understanding
The role emphasizes being a strong generalist comfortable across the full stack, product-minded about trade-offs between speed and quality, customer-focused, and an owner who takes responsibility for shipped code in production. You'll work in a small, scrappy, fast-moving team.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong front-end skills in TypeScript, React, and Next.js
- Back-end experience in Go or similar language
- Experience with Postgres
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and support your own code in production
- Must work in-person in San Francisco 5 days per week
