Join Deliveroo's Support Engineering group to build scalable, low-latency backend systems powering internal customer support tools at global scale. The team operates across 30+ countries, supporting millions of users and partners with high-performance admin applications and operational tools. A key product is an in-house chat platform handling ~5 million conversations monthly, complemented by automated systems for order tracking, issue resolution, and support team enablement. In this role, you will build and maintain high-throughput backend services using Go, collaborating with product managers, designers, and frontend developers to ship features that directly impact how support teams operate globally. You'll design scalable, resilient, and maintainable systems; contribute to architectural discussions and technical decision-making; and write well-tested code while maintaining high quality standards. REQUIREMENTS: - 3+ years of professional software engineering experience with a proven track record of building and scaling complex systems - Production experience in Golang with an interest in developing strong engineering practices - Strong hands-on experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases, especially Cassandra - Solid understanding of designing and operating low-latency, high-throughput distributed systems - Previous on-call experience with a pragmatic approach to reliability and incident management NICE TO HAVE: - Background in Node.js or other backend languages - Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP) and event-driven architectures
