Chai Discovery is building a design suite for molecules using frontier AI models that learn the foundations of biochemical structure and interaction. The company partners with leading pharmaceutical companies like Eli Lilly, Pfizer, and Novartis to power drug discovery programs.
In this role, you will build the AI platform that enables scientists to direct research programs with AI agents. As agent capabilities advance, they will increasingly leverage Chai's foundation models to design molecules and guide experiments. The core mission is to let scientists work at the level of the questions they want answered, delegating execution to AI systems while maintaining full understanding and control.
Key responsibilities:
- Work with scientists and researchers to define how people, agents, and models collaborate throughout therapeutic research programs
- Build products that accelerate the cycle from idea to experiment to decision, while preserving scientist understanding and directability of the work
- Develop core abstractions for agent execution, model inference, and scientific tools that enable new capabilities to integrate seamlessly across the workspace
You will be working at the intersection of AI research and frontier biology, building systems that support increasingly capable agents while maintaining scientific rigor and interpretability.
Qualifications:
The posting seeks strong software architecture and product judgment, with demonstrated depth in complex applications or agent systems. You should be able to identify clear abstractions in messy domains and build systems that scale as scope grows. Practical understanding of agent failure modes and how to evaluate whether agents are producing useful work is valued.
