Salary: USD 122,400 - 176,000 / annual
Abnormal AI is an AI-native behavioral security platform protecting over 25% of the Fortune 500 by analyzing communication patterns and access behavior at scale. The Platform & Infrastructure team is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and operate core compute and business-critical infrastructure services that form the foundation of the product platform.
In this role, you will design, build, test, scale, monitor, and maintain secure, cost-efficient infrastructure in a multi-cloud environment (AWS and Azure). You'll develop and evolve infrastructure as code to support repeatable, auditable, and scalable system provisioning. You'll drive design collaboration through technical discussions and constructive code reviews, and contribute as a core team member with strong ownership and teamwork.
You'll partner closely with product and application engineering teams to understand platform needs and deliver developer-friendly infrastructure abstractions. You'll participate in on-call rotations with a learning-oriented mindset, gaining insight into customer pain points and driving long-term reliability improvements. A key focus is driving down technical debt and operational toil by addressing root causes, automating repetitive work, and shaping roadmap investments. You'll use AI as a primary tool to explore, design, and ship solutions, and improve team and system context through documentation, runbooks, and AI skills development.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field
- 1–2 years of experience engineering cloud infrastructure solutions for microservice-based systems in production environments, with focus on performance, reliability, security, and cost optimization
- 1+ years of experience with Python
- 6 months–1 year of experience with at least 2 of: Terraform, AWS (or equivalent public cloud provider services), Kubernetes
- Experience working within mature software development practices (source control, testing, deployment)
- Experience with on-call rotations, incident response, and operating production-grade systems
- Experience using AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex) in daily engineering work, with judgment to validate, simplify, and reject AI-generated output
- Strong communication skills and ability to thrive in fast-paced, remote-first environment
NICE TO HAVES:
- Experience with Bash, Golang, and Terragrunt
- Prior experience building large-scale infrastructure-as-code abstractions
- AWS certifications
