Salary: CAD 150,000 - 200,000 / annual
Xanadu is building quantum computers designed to be useful and accessible globally. The company is developing PennyLane, an open-source framework for quantum computing, quantum machine learning, and quantum chemistry.
You will manage a team of 7–10 software developers building new features and improving the performance of the PennyLane framework. Your responsibilities include:
• Lead and grow the PennyLane Core Quantum Software team, overseeing feature development and performance optimization.
• Partner with Product Managers to define team direction and product roadmap.
• Participate in cross-functional sprints, ensuring timely and efficient feature delivery.
• Work closely with the product team to drive library adoption and maintain strong feedback loops with external stakeholders.
• Design and refine processes to maximize developer efficiency, enforce software best practices, and enable consistent product delivery.
• Maintain team responsiveness to bugs, issues, and open-source contributions from the community.
• Own hiring, mentorship, career development, and performance management for your team.

REQUIREMENTS:
Basic qualifications:
• Advanced degree in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field (strongly preferred).
• 7+ years of software development experience.
• 2+ years of management experience.
• Ability to understand and apply complex mathematical concepts.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills.
Preferred qualifications:
• Track record of building and shipping software to a large user base.
• Expertise in quantum computing (demonstrated through in-field experience, extensive coursework, thesis, or peer-reviewed publications).
• Experience designing and implementing domain-specific languages and compilers.
• Open-source software development experience.
• Familiarity with machine learning software fundamentals (e.g., JAX, PyTorch).
