Apple's Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) group is seeking a Software Quality Engineer to contribute to the design, analysis, and certification of applications serving Apple's retail, e-commerce, and internal systems. This role sits at the heart of Apple's operations, supporting everything from apple.com and Apple Store software to Apple Care systems, identity management, data centers, and AI/ML infrastructure.
You will work closely with software engineers, product managers, designers, and cross-functional partners to ensure the quality, performance, and stability of applications that Apple customers and employees rely on daily. Your responsibilities will span the full testing lifecycle: understanding feature implementations, crafting robust testing strategies, authoring test scenarios and automation scripts, conducting functional/regression/performance/security testing, identifying and analyzing defects, and designing maintainable test frameworks.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and maintaining automated test frameworks, scripts, and test cases for web, API, and mobile applications
- Conducting functional, regression, performance, and security testing using automation tools
- Collaborating with developers, product managers, and QA teams to define test strategies and acceptance criteria
- Implementing CI/CD pipeline integration to enhance automated testing execution
- Analyzing test results, reporting defects, and tracking issues using defect management tools
- Championing quality efforts across test automation engineering, product management, and engineering program teams
- Performing root cause analysis and documenting consistent steps to reproduce issues
This is a hands-on role requiring deep expertise in test automation, strong problem-solving skills, and a passion for quality. You will help shape how Apple operates internally and the experiences customers have with Apple's products and services.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in software quality assurance testing
- 5+ years of strong practical experience in automation with Java and/or Swift or any object-oriented language
- Experience testing API/Web Services, web apps, or Mac/iOS/iPadOS native applications
- Strong hands-on experience with Core Java, Karate, RestAssured, Playwright/Selenium, Appium/XCUI, or similar frameworks
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience in automation framework architecture, design, and development
- Expertise in QE processes, tools, and metrics
- Experience with Maven/Gradle and Git repositories
- Experience working in Agile development environments with high-quality product focus
- Solid understanding of software build tools, CI/CD integrations, deployment processes, and code quality checking tools
- Experience testing microservices and cloud-based applications
- Strong log scanning and root cause analysis skills with excellent debugging and analytical abilities
- Hands-on experience with load, resiliency, and performance testing (Jmeter/Gatling/Locust)
- Experience with AI/ML application testing, security testing, and accessibility testing
- Experience with cloud technologies (AWS/GCP) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)
- Hands-on experience with AI agents, MCP servers, and LLM-driven developer tools for test automation
- Working knowledge of building AI-related systems such as MCP servers, AI agents, agentic workflows, or LLM-powered tools for engineering use cases
