Zoox is developing the first ground-up, fully autonomous vehicle fleet and supporting ecosystem. This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale event-driven software/hardware-in-the-loop (SIL/HIL) tests and testing frameworks using advanced software patterns to improve modularity and reduce code duplication. Key responsibilities include: • Architect and manage end-to-end continuous integration (CI) pipelines to automate the execution of regression suites, ensuring robust and scalable testing infrastructure. • Lead root cause analysis for complex system-level failures by developing log mining scripts and visualization dashboards (e.g., Grafana, SQL-based notebooks) to triage failures and track performance metrics. • Perform gap analyses between high-level safety requirements and technical test implementations, including development of intricate timing and prioritization patterns. • Lead end-to-end validation and clearance processes for safety-critical monitors, such as collision detection systems. • Contribute to the overall quality and reliability of autonomous vehicle testing infrastructure through technical excellence and ownership. This is a senior individual contributor role requiring deep technical expertise in test automation, CI/CD pipelines, and safety-critical systems validation. You will work on mission-critical testing infrastructure that directly impacts vehicle safety and performance. REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or relevant technical field • 4+ years of experience with demonstrated ownership of complex projects • Strong technical communication skills with ability to summarize complex test failures and provide clear impact assessments • Demonstrated experience delivering complex projects in Python, including AI-based coding for infrastructure development, tooling, and automated test writing • Deep understanding of HIL and SIL methodologies, including real-time fault injection • Ownership experience across design, implementation, and maintenance of automated testing pipelines (e.g., Bamboo, Jenkins, or similar CI tools) and custom automation plugin development • Practical knowledge of Linux internals and networking protocols used in high-throughput real-time systems
